Can't say enough good things about Menke's Automotive. My 5.3L V8 had a ring and piston disintegrate heading down I-69 and they replaced it with a Bullet Proof Jasper Rebuilt. When I say Bullet Proof- Here's what makes a Jasper remanufactured 5.3L V8 "bulletproof": Complete teardown and inspection of every component, not just the failed parts involving a complete disassembly of all components, followed by thorough cleaning, inspection, and replacement of all the parts that do not meet original factory standards New piston rings, bearings, gaskets, seals, timing components, sensors, and often pistons and connecting rods, with reconditioned parts used only when they meet exact tolerances Torque plate honing, three-angle valve seat machining, precision crankshaft machining, and oil chamfering and polishing .LOMA is the Lifter Oil Manifold Assembly, and it's exactly tied to what killed your original engine. What it is: The valley cover on your 5.3L (sits under the intake manifold) that's specific to AFM/DFM engines. It's ribbed with solenoids on the underside and has an electrical connector on the back — non-AFM engines just have a smooth cover instead. Solenoids built into the LOMA divert oil pressure to collapse the lifters on specific cylinders (1, 4, 6, and 7), closing those cylinders' valves so they stop producing power — that's how AFM/DFM shuts down half your engine to save fuel. Why it matters for my rebuild: This is the root of the AFM/DFM lifter failures that took out your original engine. AFM lifters are more complex than standard ones and have a track record of failing or sticking as mileage builds, which can lead to serious engine damage. With the AFM/LOMA system AFM delete (swap to a non-AFM valley cover, cam, and lifters. They deleted AFM/LOMA and that's a meaningful reliability upgrade. Computer-assisted live-run testing before it ships 5.3L-specific upgrades over stock/OE. Installed and 100% tested VVT (Variable Valve Timing) gear. Tighter piston-to-wall clearance to prevent cold piston slap. Pressure-tested cylinder heads. Latest-design OE lifters to reduce lifter noise. 100% new head bolts for proper clamp load.Pur Optional AFM/DFM delete available on Gen IV/V 5.3L engines. Also bought an AFM Delete option for the GM Gen V 5.3L, engine since AFM/lifter-related failures are what took out the original engine.Also purchased accessory kit with all new belts hoses plugs etc. Menke's puts their money where their mouth is so to speak along with Jasper Rebuilt the engine is Backed by A 3-year/100,000-mile transferable nationwide parts and labor warranty. Menke's knocked the whole job out less than one week, working through the weekend to get me back on the road. The comprehensive assessment may seem overwhelming but Spencer was great at prioritizing what needed immediate repairs and what can be addressed later.
